April was a quite a month, we got a lot done and had quite a few laughs along the way. RW Rick Baccus had his final two Visitations to the Metro district this month. The brothers and officers of Jenks came out in force to support him. His first visitation was to Overseas Lodge, and while I wanted to be there I was on a ship 1200 miles away so could not attend…. Or so I thought, on that night I started receiving photos showing that I was in attendance, well at least a cut out of my head was there! You can see it in the photo below in the middle of the back row!
Only a week later we travelled to St Johns for RW Baccus’s final visitation, This time all of me made it to the meeting. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to RW Baccus for his work with Jenks and the Metro district over the last year and wish him well as he moves forward in the Grand Council.
Most Worshipful Grand Master Robert Ellston made his official visitation to his mother lodge (Mount Moriah) and celebrated his Testimonial dinner at the end of April and many brothers of Jenks Lodge and I were able to attend these events and were able to celebrate his successes and accomplishments during his term as Grand Master.
April wound down with our regular communication, which might actually count as my fifth and sixth meetings as we had to open twice, you had to be there! Once we were open it was a great night. I had the pleasure of welcoming RW Michael Northrop as the newest member of Jenks Lodge after his affiliation was approved by the brethren, and hosting W Chris Murphy, Grand Historian for the Grand Lodge of Vermont, as he presented the brethren with an extremely entertaining look into the origins of Masonic prayer.
Lastly for the month the Club 24 Speakeasy was on the 30th, the event sold out and turned out to be great fun! The music was swinging, the “bible verses” were flowing, and the coppers were never the wiser passing by “Mrs McGrundy’s Bible Study group without a second look!
May also looks to be a busy month, Some members and I are planning to travel to several lodges in the first few weeks, including St Pauls on 5/3, Redwood on 5/9, Franklin on 5/10, and Friendship on 5/14. Jenks will hold its monthly Pot Luck on 5/15 at 5:00. And our Stated communication will be held a week earlier than normal on 5/16 due to Grand Lodge’s Annual communication being held on our normal meeting night of 5/23. Our meeting will be open in the Entered Apprentice degree and feature a presentation by Mike Jarzabek who will discuss the ties between Star Wars and our craft. This presentation will be open to Masons and non Masons so feel free to bring your significant other or a friend to the meeting!
I hope to see you all out and about this coming month, May you be happy and healthy.
Yours in the Craft
Mark Lomastro, Master
